You Made This Happen: $60,000 Raised for Regional Cancer Care

10 Jul 2025

We’ve wrapped up our Regional Cancer Centre Raffle, and we have something pretty incredible to share — thanks to our community, almost $60,000 has been raised to help bring world-class cancer care closer to home.

That’s $60,000 that will go directly toward building a purpose-built Regional Cancer Centre — a place where local families can access the treatment they need, right here in the Darling Downs.

Every single ticket bought, every conversation shared, every post liked — it all mattered. And we’re so grateful.

Why this matters

As our Interim CEO Jude Wills said on prize day:

“Cancer touches so many of us across the Darling Downs. Many of the patients coming through our doors travel from outside Toowoomba for treatment — and they all deserve appropriate, modern care. This raffle brings us one big step closer to making the Regional Cancer Centre a reality.”

It’s not just about raising funds. It’s about creating hope.

It’s about families like Renae’s and Sandy’s — and the thousands more who will benefit from having access to care that’s closer, faster, and purpose-built.

"We hand over a lot of cars, but not this special."

Wippells Volkswagen has been an incredible partner in this journey, generously donating the first prize and helping spread awareness from day one.

“It's incredibly exciting,” said Joel Wieden, Wippells Volkswagen Sales Manager.
“We did our best to generate as much awareness as we could – through sales, service, and even our own team buying tickets. We hand over a lot of cars, but it’s not always this special. We're really proud to support the Foundation and the incredible work they're doing.”

Didn’t win the T-Roc? You can still experience what made it such an exciting prize. Take one for a test drive at Wippells Volkswagen and see why it turned heads in this year’s raffle.

"We're just so shocked and amazed."

Renae Haggitt, who won both first and second prizes, couldn’t believe her luck:

“I thought, the car — my goodness, I won the car! And then Jude said, there’s more... you’ve won two prizes. One in 3.2 million odds. It’s just amazing. We supported the raffle because cancer has touched so many people in our lives.”

Third prize winner Sandy Buchanan was equally stunned — and grateful.

“I’d never won anything before. My husband hasn’t been the best of health, so this has made a big difference to us. I’ve needed new carpet for one of the rooms in our house, and this has meant I’ve been able to buy that and be happy about doing it.
