The Internal Grants program (previously Applications for Funding) supports those working across Darling Downs Health to bring forward ideas that improve care in our region.
This process has been refreshed to be clearer, more focused, and more powerful, helping direct funding to areas of greatest need.

Applications are competitive, and we encourage you to apply where there is a clear need and a strong connection to patient care.
How can we support your work?
I’m applying to improve services, equipment or patient experience.
If your application relates to equipment, resources or initiatives that support patient care or service improvements, this pathway is for you.
This includes ideas that enhance the patient experience, improve safety or efficiency, or support teams in delivering care more effectively.
Strong applications clearly demonstrate the need and impact, and how the funding will improve outcomes for patients, families or staff.

If you're seeking support for vocational or tertiary training that strengthens your ability to deliver care, this pathway is for you.
Applications in this category focus on building capability, helping ensure staff and teams can continue to provide high-quality, informed care.

Yes. All Darling Downs Health staff can apply, across all facilities and service areas.
What is the difference between the Internal Grants program and Applications for Funding?
The Internal Grants program replaces Applications for Funding. It has been updated to be clearer and more consistent, helping direct funding to areas of greatest need across the health service.
What kinds of projects can be funded?
Internal Grants support projects that improve care across the health service, including equipment, service improvements, patient experience, and vocational and tertiary training.
Applications should show a clear need and a strong connection to patient care.
What do I do if my application doesn’t fit within the guidelines?

What makes a strong application?
Strong applications clearly show a genuine need, a practical plan, and how the funding will improve outcomes for patients, families or staff.
Reviewing the Guidelines before applying will help you put forward your strongest application.
How often can I apply?
Internal Grants are offered through scheduled funding rounds. Please refer to the guidelines for more information.
Are all applications funded?
No. Funding is limited, and applications are competitive.
Decisions are based on need, impact and how funding can best support care across the health service.
What will not be approved?
Applications that don’t demonstrate a clear need, strong connection to care or practical outcomes are less likely to be approved.
Providing clear and complete information helps ensure a fair and consistent assessment.
When will I find out if my application is successful?
Applications are reviewed as part of each funding round. Please refer to the guidelines for more information.
You’ll be notified once the assessment process for that round is complete.
If my application isn’t successful, can I apply again?
Not being funded does not reflect the value of your idea.
We encourage you to refine and resubmit where there is a strong connection to patient care and service need.
