Cherbourg Hospital Emergency Waiting Room Refurbishment
Following community consultation by Darling Downs Health, the Cherbourg Hospital Emergency Waiting Room was transformed with funding provided by the Foundation into a culturally appropriate and comfortable area for patients and local families.
Officially unveiled in December 2023, the waiting room now includes local indigenous artwork, a new colour scheme inspired by Cherbourg and indigenous ochre paintings, new flooring, and furniture. The space is now helping patients feel more welcomed and valued, with a less clinical feel.
Toowoomba Hospital Neonatal Unit Upgrade
The Toowoomba Hospital Neonatal Unit provides life-saving care for up to 60 sick and premature babies every month. Through our annual Christmas Appeal, our community raised $399,081.74 to go towards significant upgrades to the existing unit to create a more functional, private, and calm space for parents and staff.
Completed in June 2023, the unit was transformed with new bays for babies and their families, nurses station, baby care area, kitchenette, flooring, and colour scheme, which has allowed for more space for staff, equipment, and families to flow through the unit.
Clive Berghofer Toowoomba Hospital Accommodation Units refurbishment
After 24 years and lots of grateful patients, the Clive Berghofer Toowoomba Hospital Accommodation Units received its first major refurbishment in 2022 thanks to the generosity of the Order of St John’s, Hutchinson Builders, and a large number of local trades. Donating over $375,000 in goods, materials, and labour, the six patient accommodation units are now fully refurbished, including new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, electrical, plumbing, paint, furnishings, blinds, finishes, and more. The refurbishment has created modern and comfortable rooms for rural patients and their loved ones to stay during their care and treatment at Toowoomba Hospital.
Re-opening of the Millmerran Primary Health Clinic
Following news of the sudden closure of the Millmerran Medical Centre, the Foundation was keen to help a community who’ve given so much. The closure of the centre left residents and surrounding communities without access to primary health care services. So, the Foundation purchased the existing centre and renovated the building to meet current standards and to ensure the comfort of locals receiving care.
The new Millmerran Primary Health Clinic opened in October 2022 in partnership with Darling Downs Health and Queensland Country Practice.

Help Us Build The Regional Cancer Centre
On an average day Darling Downs Health Cancer Care Services will see over 90 patients from across the region and this number is growing.
As the need for cancer care grows in our community a new dedicated Regional Cancer Centre is now vital to the care and treatment of patients.
Goondiwindi Hospital Maternity Unit upgrades
The Foundation is raising funds in aid of revitalizing the Goondiwindi Hospital Birthing Suites. It’s hoped the refurbishment will create more comfortable, updated, and calm suites, enhancing the care and experience for women birthing at Goondiwindi Hospital. Alongside the future upgrade the Maternity Unit, plans are also being developed to update and enhance the outdoor areas for the enjoyment of patients and their families.
Museum of Health
As the custodians of the Toowoomba Hospital and Baillie Henderson Hospital historical collections, Toowoomba Hospital Foundation is embarking on an exciting new project that will see our region’s history of medicine and health care preserved in a permanent museum for the public to celebrate, learn, enjoy.

Toowoomba Hospital Oncology Outpatient areas
The Toowoomba Hospital Oncology Unit provides care and treatment for persons diagnosed with cancer and can see up to 130 patients on any given day for appointments, clinics, and chemotherapy treatment.
Through our 2023 EOFY Appeal, our community helped us raise $212,992.41 to go towards upgrading the patient waiting areas, examinations rooms, and nurses station. Plans for the upgrade are currently in development.
Toowoomba Hospital Antenatal and Gynaecology Clinic waiting areas
The journey you take with the Antenatal and Gynaecology clinics can be one of the most important hospital experiences you have, and your surroundings can make a huge difference alongside the care you receive. This year we’re raising funds to create a warm and inviting space for women and their families at all stages of their pregnancy and gynaecology care. With your help our hope is to update the waiting rooms and family spaces into fresh, calm, and comfortable areas.
