Trekking to make an impact for cancer patients in our community
In the last couple of months, I have received news of cancer diagnoses for two very dear people. One of those people, although it has been caught early, the only treatment option is surgery and anti-hormone replacement therapy. The other person is terminal and has started an aggressive chemotherapy regimen to extend the time they have left.I then came across something which resonated deeply with me.
The Toowoomba Hospital Foundations ‘Trek the Trail’, is a 75km challenge along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail from Yarraman to Toogoolawah, with the goal of raising $75,000 to help fund essential exercise physiology services at the Regional Cancer Centre, supporting patients through treatment and recovery.
So I signed up to do the challenge (1 of 75 people only), Saturday 30 August - Sunday 31 August 2025, with a new fundraising goal of $5000. In sharing my fundraising page, I am tapping into my personal growth as it is a huge step outside of my comfort zone, stepping further outside of my comfort zone by looking to wear a costume for the challenge.
