The Bloke from Gundy
Just a Bit Further: Adelaide to Toowoomba to Brisbane
In memory of his beloved wife, Judi, The Bloke from Gundy continues to turn heartache into hope.
What began as a deeply personal act of love has become an extraordinary journey of endurance, generosity, and community spirit that raised vital funds for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation’s Regional Cancer Centre campaign.
This year, the journey grows even greater.
From Adelaide to Toowoomba and on to Brisbane, The Bloke from Gundy will run, ride, and wheel a wheelbarrow across hundreds of kilometres — pushing himself physically and emotionally to raise funds for:
-
Toowoomba Hospital Foundation
-
NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia
-
Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Foundation
Every step honours Judi’s memory. Every kilometre carries a message of hope.
“While running, I had a lot of time to remember all the good times with my Judi and wishing she was still here,” he has shared. “There were times you had to hold back the tears, but when out of sight, they ran down your face with a bloody runny nose.”
Along the way, towns and communities will once again rally; stopping to cheer, donate, share stories, and remind us of what’s possible when people come together for something bigger than themselves.
This journey is about more than distance.
It’s about ensuring families across our region can access quality cancer care closer to home, without the added burden of long travel during an already difficult time.
Every kilometre matters. Every donation helps.
Join The Bloke from Gundy on this remarkable journey and help turn resilience into lasting impact.
